Serving our God, our Church, our School, our Community

Letter from Deacon Kent

Dear St. Joseph Parishioners,
It is a pleasure to introduce myself to you as the new Deacon assigned to assist Fr. Jared. My name is Kent Davis and I was ordained on May 7th at St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in Cleveland.
My wife, Beth, and I reside in Hudson, where we have been parishioners at St. Mary Parish for 27 years. Together we raised our four grown daughters, two of whom are married (we have only a “grand-cat” at this writing but one can always hope!). I am self-employed in construction and real estate, and Beth is Director of Campus Ministry at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School in Chardon. As you come to know me, you will find that my spiritual journey has been a long one, but I will save much of that detail for future homilies. For the last five years, I have been in the diaconate formation program at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe (same place Fr. Jared received his degree), taking classes every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the school years. It has been a blessing and joy to be back in class; our Faith is so rich and deep that it makes me want to know more. I pray that I have the opportunity to share as much as possible with you over the years to come!
My “official” starting date will be Monday, May 23, but I hope to attend as many Masses as my schedule allows between now and then. Please stop me and introduce yourself if you see me. Just know that St. Joseph has long been “my go-to guy” and it is truly a “God-incident” that I come to a parish rich in tradition of honoring him. I have been praying for all of you since I received my assignment, and I could not be more excited to get started!
God Bless All of You!
Deacon Kent Davis
