Dr. Patricia Nugent
A Message From the Principal...
I am pleased to be the principal of St. Joseph School. I hope to bring a strong focus of Catholic identity and academic excellence with my leadership.
A graduate of Miami University, Ursuline College, and the University of Akron, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and a Doctoral degree in Educational Administration. I have a State of Ohio licensure as a Principal and Diocesan certification as a Catechetical Leader. I am a member of the National Catholic Educational Association, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the National Middle School Association, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
From 1993 to present, I served as Principal of St. Hilary School in Fairlawn, OH. During my administration, St. Hilary School received recognition as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2001 and 2008. Furthermore, I undertook three major building expansions and increased enrollment by 200 students. In addition, I added advanced math classes, French and Chinese classes, and many extra-curricular activities.
I previously served as Principal in the Youngstown Diocese (1991-1993) and was a teacher at the former St. Gregory the Great Grade School in South Euclid for ten years. In addition to my administrative position, I am an adjunct professor at Ursuline College where I teach School Climate and Curriculum Leadership in the Educational Administration program. I am a frequent presenter at national, state, and regional education conferences and have authored several professional publications. I have provided numerous in-services to the principals in the Dioceses of Cleveland, Youngstown, and Erie, PA. As a chairperson for the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association, I have successfully guided numerous Catholic schools throughout the State of Ohio to become fully accredited.
I am excited and honored to be the principal of St. Joseph School. The school has a positive reputation - students are eager to learn, parents have high expectations and are supportive, and the faculty is professional, caring, and committed to Catholic education.” I reside in Cuyahoga Falls, and enjoy golf, traveling, reading, and hiking.
