Vacation Bible School is a fun-filled program offered during the summer to connect children with their faith. The origins of VBS can be traced back to Illinois in 1894. A Sunday school teacher named D. T. Miles felt she was limited by time constraints in teaching the Bible to children. So, she started a daily Bible school to teach children during the summer.  Over time, it has grown into a standard program in many churches in the United States.

We call it VBS, but it’s really more like a camp than a school. VBS is not about tests or worksheets. VBS, at its core, is just about planting seeds of faith in those that participate.  We do that with decorations, crafts, music, dancing, snacks, bubbles, and lots of jumping around in God’s Love. VBS is an excellent opportunity for children to learn about God while hanging out with their friends and parish family!
