OCIA

Are you or someone you know…

  • Expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?
  • Have a child over the age of seven who has not been baptized?
  • Baptized Catholic as a child but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
  • Baptized in a different Christian denomination and expressed interest in the Catholic faith?

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), formally known as RCIA, is a group of Catholics and Non-Catholics who wish to learn about the Catholic faith. They are initiated into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. The group meets weekly in September until Easter.

Persons baptized into another Christian church and now seeking full communion with the Catholic Church are also welcomed to participate along with catechumens in OCIA in the process of learning about the Catholic faith and being formed in that faith. For a baptized Christian, reception into full communion with the Catholic Church involves reception of the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation and then a Profession of Faith followed by the celebration of Confirmation and the Eucharist.
