2020-2021 Tuition Assistance Program

 

A Catholic education for your child  may mean financial sacrifice for your family.   So let us help. Following is a list of grants and scholarships for which most of our families are eligible.  These grants and scholarships will cover a portion or possibly the entire cost of your child’s tuition. These monies have been set aside specifically to assist with paying for tuition. 

St. Joseph Parish School wants all children to have the gift of a Catholic education, so we are here to help you find the financial means to make it doable.  

 

Ohio Department of Education Scholarships

Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) - $4,650 - Deadline: March 31, 2020

The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) is available to students K-12 assigned to and currently attending a public school listed in the 2020-2021 List of Designated Public SchoolsBeginning the school year of 2020-2021, New students to St. Joseph Parish School in grades K-8 living in these districts are eligible to receive a scholarship of $4,650.  Scholarship materials must be submitted to St. Joseph Parish School by March 31, 2020.  

Educational Choice Expansion Scholarship (EdChoice Expansion) - up to $4,650 - Deadline March 31, 2020

The EdChoice Expansion is available to students in K-8, based on income eligibility. The Income Eligibility of a family is 200% above the poverty line. Families do not have to live in a failing district to qualify for this scholarship, but families would have to apply annually with the state. The scholarship available to students is the price of tuition at the non-public school.  For St. Joseph Parish School it will be $4,650 for the 2020-2021 school year. 

 

Diocesan Tuition Assistance 

FACTS Financial Aid Management (https://online.factsmgt.com/aid) - Deadline March 15, 2020

Diocesan Tuition Assistance (DTA) is available for students attending St. Joseph Parish School. Funds are awarded based on financial need.   In the 2018-19 academic year, nearly $2.5 million was distributed to 3,500 students in the Cleveland Diocese. DTA is awarded annually. Applications are accepted from January – March 15.  If you qualify, awards range from $450-$800 per student. To apply, visit FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment at online.factsmgt.com/aid.

Bishops’ Scholarship for Excellence -$1,000 - Deadline March 15, 2020

The diocese awards sixteen $1,000 scholarships to 6th and 7th grade students. To apply, families must complete FACTS Financial Aid Management online application, as well as submit information to school office.

Thomas Moore Elementary Scholarship - $500 - Deadline March 15, 2020

Four $500 scholarships are awarded to four elementary students in the Diocese of Cleveland annually. To apply, families must complete FACTS Financial Aid Management online application, as  well as submit required info to school office. 

Our Lady of Victory Scholarship

For students who are parishioners of Our Lady of Victory in Tallmadge. 

St. Eugene’s Parish Scholarship

For students who are parishioners of St. Eugene Parish in Cuyahoga Falls.

St. Matthew Parish Scholarship

For students who are parishioners of St. Matthew Parish in Akron.  

 

Parish Tuition Assistance*

St. Joseph Parish School Catholicity Scholarship - $500/$250 - Deadline April 1, 2020

Alumna Theresa Haidnick frequently expressed her gratitude to have been able to attend St. Joseph Parish School. Ms. Haidnick was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Parish prior to her passing on October 14, 2018, at the age of 96! It was Ms. Haidnick’s hope to assist current and future St. Joseph students in obtaining an excellent Catholic education as was provided for herself and six brothers and sisters. Two $500 Catholicity scholarships will be awarded annually to students in grades 5, 6, or 7 to be used for the upcoming school year.  Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to students in grade 4. 

Fund a Dream Scholarship - $2,500 - Deadline April 1, 2020

Six scholarships, each for $2,500, for students attending St. Joseph Parish School during the 20-21 school year. 

Sam J and Anita Costanzo Scholarship - Full-tuition - Deadline April 1, 2020

Msgr. Thomas P. Campbell Scholarship - $350+ - Deadline April 1, 2020

All school families are eligible to apply. Families must complete the Diocesan FACTS Financial Aid Management online application (https://online.factsmgt.com/aid).

*To qualify for Parish Assistance, a Tuition Assistance Application must be on file in the business office.   This application is due by 2/11/20 for current families and 2/18/20 for new families.
